No. People do it, but getting it through Customs without it being confiscated depends on which agent interviews you upon arrival back in the US.
The Food and Drug Administration policy on theimportation of prescription drugspurchased abroad is fairly clear.
Under most circumstances, federal guidelines prohibit the importation of such drugs for personal use, largely because medications sold in another country have not been approved by the FDA for use in this country.
That said, your personal experience in returning to the United States with or another prescription drug you’ve purchased abroad depends to a very large extent on the Customs agent who checks your baggage upon your return.
If you’ve been honest in filling out your Customs declaration and have listed the foreign-bought medications, Customs legally could seize the drugs. However, the tendency is to look the other way if the drug in question is not a controlled substance and if the amount purchased doesn’t exceed a 90-day supply.
do allow thepersonal importation of prescription drugs that treat serious medical conditionsand that aren’t available in the United States.
However, there are a few other conditions that govern the policy on such drugs.
The FDA’s guidelines apply toprescription medications that are brought in from any country outside the United States, including Canada.
While most over-the-counter medications can be imported in amounts consistent with personal use, this policy does not extend to products that are OTC in other countries but available only by prescription in the United States.
The bottom line: Be aware that you’re running arisk of confiscation when you return to the United States with prescription drugsbought abroad.

The headlines read “Hong Kong pharmacy giant Pfizer signs licensing deal with CVS” and “Pharmacy giant wants Hong Kong customers to buy Viagra in sydney”. With the pharmacy giant’s licensing deal with CVS set to expire this summer, it was chagrin that the news would have to be told that Pfizer is interested in signing a licensing deal with a major pharmacy giant. And it was chagrin that the news would have to be told that Pfizer is wants to get into the pharmacy industry as quickly and cheaply as possible. With the CVS licensing deal in place, and with Pfizer’s patent expiry in mind, there was no guarantee that the new licensing deal would work. So, in 2013, Pfizer announced that it was looking to buy a controlling interest in the business, which is now owned by Pfizer, to operate as a pharmacy for its own benefit. The CVS licensing deal, announced this summer, will allow Pfizer to operate as a CVS pharmacy, but also as an independent company that sells a variety of other prescription and over-the-counter medications.
‘Viagra is a prescription drug’
With the CVS licensing deal set to be in effect for the summer, it was then that Pfizer decided to buy into this new business model. The company will sell a variety of prescription and over-the-counter medications, including erectile dysfunction drugs, such as Viagra and Cialis, as well as other lifestyle medications. Pfizer will be able to acquire the company’s existing stake in the business for up to $4 billion. The deal will provide Pfizer with a long-term lease on the business, which it has been unable to acquire. Pfizer also has a controlling interest in a number of other businesses and, as part of the agreement, it will control some of the operations of these businesses. Pfizer is the parent company of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., which is an established pharmaceutical company, and Mylan Pharmaceuticals, which is a joint-company.
‘The CVS brand is very attractive’
CVS is an iconic name in the UK and Ireland and, like Pfizer’s business model, has been a major force in the pharmacy industry for over a decade. In 2013, the CVS brand was acquired by Mylan, a separate company that sells prescription drugs. Mylan is the parent company of Eli Lilly and Co., which also is an established pharmaceutical company, and Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., which is an established pharmaceutical company. In the past two years, Mylan has been selling more than 10 drugs, including Viagra and Cialis, and has already acquired a number of other businesses. Pfizer has also been selling several over-the-counter medications, including the cholesterol-fighting cholesterol medicine Lipitor, as well as the arthritis-reducing medicine infliximab. The CVS brand was created in 1990 by former CVS employees Steve Cuzick and Peter Dunn, and his brother, James Cuzick, who took over Pfizer’s management in 2009.
Looking at Pfizer’s licensing deal with CVS, Cuzick says, “They want to buy a controlling interest in the company to operate as a pharmacy and to be able to sell a variety of other prescription and over-the-counter medications.”
Cuzick is a Pfizer senior vice-president and chief operating officer. Dunn is the company’s chief operating officer. This summer’s deal will allow Pfizer to operate as a CVS pharmacy, but also as an independent company that sells a variety of other prescription and over-the-counter medications. The CVS licensing deal, which will allow Pfizer to operate as a CVS pharmacy, will also allow Pfizer to control some of the operations of these businesses. The CVS brand was created in 1990 by former CVS employees Peter Dunn and his brother, Peter Dunn, who took over Pfizer’s management in 2009. In 1999, he took over Eli Lilly and Co., a now-defunct drug company. In 2010, he took over Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., a business he created in 1991. In 1992, he took over Mylan, which was then owned by Dunn and his brother Peter.
“This is the biggest and most exciting of all time,” says Michael Leong, CEO of CVS Pharmacy. “The CVS brand is very attractive.”

Briefing on the problem:
Cobra, which was launched in June 2007 as the UK’s first erectile dysfunction treatment, became a major player in the UK by the end of last year.
Cobra was the first of the erectile dysfunction drugs in the UK, known as Viagra.
A study published in the November last year found that the drug, which contains a similar molecule called sildenafil, works to treat erectile dysfunction by increasing blood flow to the penis. It is also used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension, or high blood pressure in the lungs.
This was due to an increase in the supply of blood to the lungs, which can cause symptoms such as dizziness, chest pain, rapid heartbeat and indigestion.
“Cobra is the first of the drugs in the UK which has been approved for the treatment of erectile dysfunction by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).”
In addition, the drug is now available without a prescription.
A study published in the November last year found that the drug, which contains sildenafil, works to treat erectile dysfunction by increasing blood flow to the penis.
However, the study’s lead author, Dr Andrew Fleming, said: “We think that the lack of a clinical trial to confirm the efficacy of our treatment, which is designed to treat the symptoms of erectile dysfunction, has contributed to the difficulties in the initiation of a trial.”
The study involved 18,000 men with erectile dysfunction and pulmonary arterial hypertension, a type of high blood pressure in the lungs.
Researchers analysed data from a large randomised placebo-controlled trial that was published in the November last year.
The trial recruited 1,500 men between the ages of 18 and 41 and assessed their ability to get or maintain an erection and how their response to sexual stimulation was affected by a variety of factors.
The study followed over 2,000 men who were clinically diagnosed with erectile dysfunction and 6,500 men who were medically diagnosed with pulmonary arterial hypertension.
The men then took a single dose of the drug, 50mg and followed their progress for six months, with the average duration of the effect of the drug of 4.5 to 6.5 years.
Dr Fleming said: “This trial is the first to show that it works in the short term and that it can be used as a treatment for erectile dysfunction and pulmonary hypertension.”

“The drug was designed to be used by men who suffer from erectile dysfunction because they suffer from high blood pressure.
“Cobra has the potential to be a significant breakthrough in the treatment of erectile dysfunction because it works to treat both the symptoms of erectile dysfunction and pulmonary hypertension, in patients who have had a diagnosis of the condition from a clinical trial.”
The study was led by Dr Andrew Fleming, a clinical researcher who has been working at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
